2025 Recap

As the 2025 year came to a close, I decided to put something together with the footage I had on hand in the moment. The main focus of this video was to practice my use of sound design and manipulating a song to fit the tempo and mood I had in mind. The song I used had two distinct parts where the vocals change from a higher pitch to a lower pitch right at the start. I imagined a dramatic pause with a cinematic clip to hold for suspense which required me to cut the song at a certain point after the first part of the vocals. Creating a hard cut would make the song sound too unnatural, so I nested a piece of the audio clip and extended it with Studio Reverb at Max Decay. This allowed the audio to echo out rather than having a hard cut off that sounded too abrupt. In addition to manipulating the music, I focused on creating an auditory hook by layering different sound effects in the intro to allow for multiple clips to be cut in and to build up the suspense to the silence of the music accompanied by the ambiance of the howling wind. Everything after was carried by the tempo of the song and the nostalgic feel of the original audio of the clips with friends laughing and enjoying the moment. 2025 was an amazing year for my creative endeavors and this video is my start to an amazing new year full of growth in my craft.
